THE ULTIMATE LAPLAND ADVENTURE ON THE SNOWMOBILE VOYAGER TRIP with Becky G and team...

The Snowmobile Voyager is for those seeking thrill and excitement while located in a very special part of Finland renowned for its amazing display of the Northern Lights.

Kilpisjärvi is often cited as a favourite Lapland resort, and this snowmobiling holiday showcases it at its finest!

The Snowmobile Voyager is such a popular tour I sell, it makes sense to try it myself!

This holiday brings to life the highlights and landmarks of True Lapland via the thrill of the snowmobile. Zip along frozen rivers, weave across the Arctic tundra, and delve into the pristine snow scenes that stretch to the horizon. All of these activities take place along the Official Northern Lights Route, a 600km journey through Lapland, recognised by Finland, Sweden, and Norway as one of the best spots for viewing the magical Aurora.

I’m now back at my desk & had so many questions so here is the lowdown on the trip I’ve just been on!

My usual holiday normally involves lots of sun but this was one the husband really wanted to do, so myself, my husband and 2 more of the All About Travel ladies went on this trip and what an experience we had!

Day 1

En route from the airport we collected our snow suits and boots . We arrived in the evening and had a lovely 3 course dinner followed by a welcome meeting where we got our full itinerary and some useful info!

Our apartment /log cabin was fully equipped with a sauna, clothes heater/drier & kitchenette.

We popped to the only local bar and were treated to the magnificent northern lights on our walk back.

Day 2

After a filling breakfast we walked to the local reindeer farm. Learning all about Sami culture and reindeer farming before meeting the reindeer themselves. We got to feed them, ride on a sleigh with them & even got to toast marshmallows on the open fire

After lunch, we went for a stroll, and found the frozen waterfalls, we took sleighs and used this for most of the journey back which resulted in plenty of belly laughs and a few bruises!

After our evening meal, we went out on our 2 hour Northern lights snowmobile safari. After a safety briefing and getting kitted out in more clothes, helmets, mittens and balaclava, we whizzed across frozen lakes and into the forests in search of the northern lights by snowmobile. Sadly, we didn’t capture the lights on this night, but the snowmobiling in a snow storm was really magical!

Day 3

After breakfast our time was at leisure, so we visited the stunning WAU houses, these are glass domed roof houses so you can watch the sky from your bed. These are another option to the cabins, and just looked amazing!

This afternoon we were taken out on the 3 Country borders snowmobile adventure, travelling across the frozen lakes to the border of Sweden, Norway & Finland! This lasted 3 hours and the country border was the half way point where you get a hot drink and can swop drivers and have some photos.

We booked the jacuzzi for this evening after dinner, so we could unwind and hopefully get a glimpse of the northern lights, it didn’t disappoint as the sky once again treated us to the best natural display there is.

Day 4

Breakfast and time for a final walk in the stunning area

We got on the road at 1130, dropped our suits off on the way back to the airport ready to fly home!

Included in our trip:

  • Flights, accommodation, transfers

  • Snow suits and boots. When snowmobiling- additional clothing provided (coat, mittens, balaclava, helmet).
