A Week in Antigua with Elite Island Resorts š“āļø
Last year, I spent a week in Antigua on a familiarisation trip with Elite Island Resorts, flying direct from Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic. Over the week, I stayed in three of their beautiful resorts, toured two more, and even got out to explore the island. Antigua delivered everything Iād hoped for: turquoise waters, warm hospitality, and plenty of unforgettable moments.
St. Jamesās Club & Villas
Our first stop was St. Jamesās Club & Villas, the only family-friendly resort we stayed in. Set between two beaches, one natural, one man-made , itās a spacious all-inclusive with something for everyone.
I loved waking up in our beachfront villa, pulling open the curtains, and stepping straight onto the sand. The resort also has six pools, an adults-only section, and plenty of included water sports like kayaking and sailing. A brilliant choice for families or couples wanting variety.
Pineapple Beach Club
Next up was Pineapple Beach Club, an adults-only property and my personal favourite of the trip. The beach here is picture-perfect: white sand, turquoise sea, and that laid-back Caribbean vibe.
During our stay, some beachfront rooms were being refurbished, these are now the rooms to book if you want unbeatable views. Pineapple had a sociable feel, excellent food and cocktails, and the kind of beach you never want to leave.
The Verandah Resort & Spa
Our final stay was at The Verandah Resort & Spa, a sprawling all-inclusive surrounded by lush greenery. The main pool had a lively buzz, but I found a tucked-away infinity pool by the beach that was pure bliss. It felt like a hidden gem and quickly became my favourite spot.
Hammock Cove Resort
We also toured Hammock Cove, a boutique luxury resort that completely wowed me. Each villa has its own private infinity plunge pool, and the atmosphere is intimate and serene. Perfect for honeymooners or couples looking for romance and privacy.
Galley Bay Resort & Spa
Another standout was Galley Bay, with its sweeping beach and calm, restorative vibe. I loved the mix of accommodation here: gorgeous beachfront villas alongside quirky circular cottages, which felt so unique and full of charm.
Galley Bay is designed for total switch-off. Quiet zones are respected, and guests are asked to use headphones with devices. Itās all about relaxation and recharging.
Exploring Antigua
Beyond the resorts, we also had the chance to explore some of Antiguaās highlights. Dickenson Bay offered a classic stretch of Caribbean sand, while English Harbour charmed us with its marina and historic atmosphere.
A real highlight was Shirley Heights, the islandās most iconic viewpoint. On Sunday nights, it transforms into a lively party with steel bands, barbecue food, and incredible sunset views over Nelsonās Dockyard and English Harbour. Even with a little rain and low-lying cloud during our visit, the energy and scenery were unforgettable.
We also toured the island, with some of our group heading out on quad bikes while others explored by minibus. Along the way, we discovered hidden beaches and made a stop at Devilās Bridge. This dramatic limestone arch on the Atlantic coast is stunning to see in person, but also deeply moving , tied to the history of enslaved people on the island. Itās an important place to visit for understanding Antiguaās past.
Final Thoughts
Antigua is a destination that has it all ,lively, sociable resorts, peaceful boutique escapes, and cultural experiences that bring depth to the islandās beauty. The Elite Island Resorts collection gave me a real feel for just how varied a Caribbean holiday can be, and I left already dreaming of when I can return.
š” If Antigua is on your list, Iād love to help you choose the perfect resort and create an island escape thatās tailored toĀ you!
