Are Holiday Villages for you ? check out what our Family Fairy Amy M has to say ....

ree

We’re a family of 6 and the past 8 years we’ve been doing TUI holiday villages (with a break in-between due to Covid) if you don’t want to hear the "l’m bored" phrase of the kids then these hotels are the best option. They really do have everything on site and have the perfect name because they just are like villages. Although the complexes tend to be big you never feel like there’s to many people there as you have so many options of where you want to spend your day. Entertainment starts at 10am and it don’t stop until after 11pm. There’s kids clubs galore with all the usual games going on as well as face painting, raft building, Olympics, escape rooms and much more. Then if your child doesn’t want to go to kids club then by the pool there’s always something like kayaking, water zorbing, inflatable assault courses, daily themed quizzes, splash bingo (the best bingo you’ll ever play) water aerobics, we’ve played water cricket over the years, pool party’s to crown prince and princess of the pool along with some places having splash parks and some having bigger water parks. Evening entertainment is for both kids and adults and they never fail to not get the crowd up on there feet’s. There's a few payable things in resort if you do want to do that bit extra and there worth every single penny in my opinion. Stage Academy (this is only peak months but is run by qualified theatre professionals, kids learn an all singing and dancing performance and get to go on stage and perform to the resort on the evening) Football academy, if you’ve got a football fan they’ll love making new friends here and learning the skills of the semi pro players that train them, after your sessions are up they get recognised on stage with a certificate. Swim academy, whether you want lessons or an older child wants to learn the rookie lifeguard course these 1:1 sessions add so much value to any child that's nervous to get in the water, or even someone that absolutely loves just being in the water all holiday. They get a bag with googles and T-shirt and receive there certificate also when they complete there sessions to. There chocolate party’s, sweet parties and widget parties to also pre book at the hotels and the kids have the best time, leaving you to relax and enjoy your holiday and have that time to yourself. Here's a little break down of each one we’ve done.

MAJORCA:

First HV holiday we did. We didn’t have a clue what the Kou Kou moves were but now it’s a firm favourite when we ask alexa to play music. The Set out of this hotel was just perfect a big pool, a splash park for the younger children and a great kids club. The hotels owned by protur and the all inclusive was fab. The buffet restaurant was great with all sorts on offer and show cooking throughout the day. 3 a’la carte restaurants included with 1 visit per stay to the Mexican, Italian and Indian. We went peak season to in the August and there was never a problem in getting in to them. All inclusive also included bottles of Prosecco, mouth watering fresh kebabs at dinner time, chocolate and vanilla whippy ice cream on tap and cheese and tomato toasties at 11pm for a late night snack. Rooms were spacious and really comfortable the beach wasn’t far away but a bus from the hotel would leave every 20 minutes. It was honestly like a party bus and all the kids loved it. The beach was right opposite the town of Cala Millor so you could spend the day shopping or people watching if you pleased. A 10 minute walk you could be in the square of Sa Coma or you could go the opposite direction and walk upto the very Spanish town of Cala Bona.

RHODES:

What’s known as the elite HV of them all, owned by the very well known hotel chain Atlantica. This hotel is just pure luxury in all 3 areas. You have the main bit where everything’s happening and known as the activity area, walk through the under passage to get to the relax section (my personal favourite) and enjoy the chilled vibes and swim up bar, or stay in the same area as I did in the deluxe section where you have your own restaurant to dine in exclusively for deluxe guests. We were really spoilt with our swim up room which was very modern and with a sliding door patrician which was great for not disturbing each other when someone wanted to sleep. This hotel had 2 onsite a la carte restaurants included to visit once during your stay and could be booked at reception of via the Atlantica app. It also had a Greek a la carte restaurant opposite to enjoy to. A 20 minute walk got you into the centre of Kolumbia town and a small beach wasn’t far away. You could also taxi to Tsambiki beach, one of Rhodes most popular beaches and only 10 minutes drive from the hotel. Lindos wasn’t far to go and explore and Rhodes town was also easily accessible to go and see (definitely recommend here for an evening) so pretty and plenty to do there.

CYPRUS:

Whether your in the Aegean side (best for people who are wanting to be away from all the action and in a quieter part of the resort) or the fishing village side. (step into all the action and have the pool and entertainment pretty much on your doorstep) The complex is huge and absolutely stunning. The white washed buildings you stay in are really pretty and with pink and purple floral trees dotted all over makes it feel so Cypriot. The pools massive and was like walking into a warm bath when we visited in the August. The foods plentiful and the chocolate fountain was always a hit for pudding with both adults and kids. The beach isn’t far and it’s a lovely walk upto the town of Paphos to explore and see the marina. Cyprus is one of the easiest countries to get married in for a British citizen (ie not as much paperwork to fill in and have translated) so we saw lots of lovely weddings in different parts of the hotel, including the onsite chapel. The A’La carte restaurants here included a Mexican and a Greek and a visit once per stay is also included in the all inclusive. The kids highlight each evening was the popcorn and candy floss machines open at selected times of an evening whilst they watched the show and also part of the all inclusive package.

COSTA DEL SOL:

The very first holiday village hotel there was and the first thing you see when you arrive are all the certificates of awards it’s achieved over the years and continue to still do so! As well as the usual entertainment around the pool on some days you’ll enjoy the chilled vibes the saxophonist gives whilst he plays to the crowd on selected days. There’s a park at this hotel right next to the pool and is ideal to be able to watch the kids from your sun lounger. No complaints with food or the cocktail list here. A waterpark opposite to use with just a small hire charge of the ring tyres so people didn’t leave with them and the all inclusive was included at the waterpark for all HV guests. A bus stop also opposite the hotel meant getting to the town of Benalmadena was easily accessible. The marina here was great, some lovely shops as well as some designer boutiques. Fuegirola wasn’t far or Torremolinos so you could also explore both these resorts.

An afternoon in Puerto Banus was a hit when the kids saw all the luxury yachts in port and a day trip to Gibraltar to see the monkeys is also an option for those that want to explore from this hotel.

IBIZA:

My favourite island with the best sunsets to watch of an evening. This hotel shares a water and splash park with the neighbouring hotel. Has shops and restaurants directly opposite. A lovely onsite beach to enjoy both day and night, 3 a la carte restaurants to choose from which include an American an Italian and the grill. A short walk into the town should you want a change of scenery and another beach to bathe on, or maybe sit in one of the many bars and restaurants they have there. The bus stops directly outside the hotel and will take you to the lively resort of San Antonio where you can experience the hustle and bustle of the excitement of popular DJs or maybe have a meal and watch the sunset at cafe mambos (it’s not just for your 18-30 year olds) Ibiza towns about 30 minutes away as a excursion and you can visit both the old town and the new town whilst your there. Es Cana has a hippy market every Wednesday to go to with its very festival vibes when you’re there. The 4th balearic island can be seen from Ibiza and a ferry ride over to Formentera is an option should you want to tick another country of your destination list of where you’ve been.  Please don’t be put of that this islands just for partying because it has so much to see and do there.
